Highlights:

  • the Hungarian government is investing in companies that can help a local region become a leading supplier to the automotive industry
  • one of those was Aalberts surface technologies in Tatabánya, which is an expert in the field of high-quality functional coatings
  • the company will be able to use this and a future investment to increase the plant's capacity by more than 10%
Hungary is ambitious in becoming a leading supplier for the automotive industry.
Aalberts surface technologies in Tatabánya, Hungary, was awarded a grant by the Hungarian government to help realise this ambition.

regional growth
"Our region in Hungary is focused on expanding as a supplier of technological services to the automotive industry," says Ferenc Puszta, business unit director at Aalberts surface technologies in Tatabánya. "Part of this is investing in companies that have the potential to grow, and which will hire and train skilled new employees. As an expert in the field of high-quality functional coatings, we are in a unique position. We can offer the automotive industry a range of coatings services in one location, and we are the only company that offers zinc-flake technology in a 400 km radius. We also have the capacity to deal with very large orders. And more importantly, our can-do attitude gives customers a great deal of confidence when dealing with us."

ministerial visit
The grant was recently handed over to Aalberts by the Hungarian minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, who then toured the plant at Tatabánya. The minister also officially confirmed that the company would receive a second non-refundable government investment at a future date. "Being part of a Dutch company, the grant is a great example of the strong economic bond between the Netherlands and Hungary," Ferenc says. "Our plan is to use the investments in two phases. First, is a three-storey office building to be able to increase our current production area by 800-1000 square meters. Second, we will increase our production area, adding around 1,000 square meters and adding new technologies. Together, these developments will increase the plant's capacity by more than 10%, helping grow our future.”

Our skills, technology and can-do mentality help us in our ambition to drive sustainable transportation.
